Completed NEOM Project - Geological Survey of Gulf of Aqaba
|
Geohazards Research Center successfully completed a detailed geological study along the Gulf of Aqaba coast stretching 80 km long within 60 days. The final project report was submitted and approved by NEOM.
The main objective of this study was to conduct a detailed geological survey and mapping of a corridor of area located to the east of the shoreline (up to 1 km to the east from the shoreline) along the eastern coast of the Gulf of Aqaba to assess the prevailing geologic conditions at the proposed assets’ locations, and accordingly to evaluate their effect on the design of the assets.
The geological map of the coastal corridor at the Gulf of Aqaba (scale 1:100,000) and those representing the proposed assets (1: 10,000) were prepared using ESRI ArcGIS and data collected from the field for spatial analysis, cartography, and layout (exporting digital maps). Structural Data were plotted on stereonet and rose diagrams using Stereonet v. 11, and DIPS.
